Everlane modern loafer & 3M tape for sole protection review (updated)

If you are looking for some comfortable shoes,  I strongly recommend Everlane modern loafer! They are my go-to shoes now. No break-in needed at all! They fit true to size, but you may want to go half size up if you have wide feet. The only concern for these loafers are the slippery sole. After several wears, I decided to add 3M safety-walk tape (here) on the sole.

3M safety-walk light duty clear tape

3M safety-walk tape is made with similar material as sole protector (I reviewed in a previous post - here), but at a small fraction of price. You could tape at least 30 pairs of shoes with this 60 feet 3M tape. 

The procedure is straightforward: 1. Dig those tiny rocks out from the sole, then wipe with damp cloth. Leave the shoes dry overnight; 2. The tape is only 2 inch wide, so you need to put two pieces to cover the entire sole. 3. Cut along the edge. 4. Press the tape down and get air bubbles out.

Result seems to be great so far! I wore them out couple times, walking all day. There is no sign of peeling off or significant worn, and my loafers are not slippery anymore.

How long will it last?

It depends on how you wear your shoes! If you walk on rough surface, it might last 10 miles and start to wear out. Otherwise, it lasts for a while. So if you plan to walk A LOT, you may still want to send your shoes to a professional cobbler.
