I had a digital perm couple weeks ago, and a follow up hair cut finished the look now~ The biggest difference between regular and digital perm is the shape of the wave. Digital perm gives big curls, mimicking the look of curl iron. Although most of hairdressers would suggest you a hair cut before perm, I always refuse and have it two weeks later. Firstly, no perm could give you absolutely symmetrical curls. No matter how good the hair cut it is, you need a trim after the curls settle down. Second, digital perm uses heat through the hot rods. The end of hair touches the rods directly and gets dry easily. Trim the ends afterwards will definitely make the hair healthy, shining and soft.

A perm means 'heat' and 'chemical', so you may need some special care for your hair after a perm. Hera are three products I personally feel useful.
