Temperatures in Boston go from extremely cold to extremely colder this week! A small single digit showed up on my thermometer this morning. It says on the weather website that the temperature may reach negative 9F with windchill. My choice for such an extreme weather is wearing the combination of leather and down jacket.
Top = 3 layers
1. Club Monaco wool/cashmere blend Julie turtleneck (sale @ $29 here, and my review here)
2. Vince crewneck leather jacket
3. Theory down jacket
Bottom = leather pants & boots (my review in a previous post)
Accessories = fox fur scarf + leather / cashmere gloves

Layering a leather jacket or fur vest underneath a coat is the best way to keep yourself warm in an extreme cold weather, especilly in windy days. Leather can make an unpenetrable wall to the weather, which is the reason that bikers and motocyclists always wear leather jackets. Since modern leather jackets mostly have slim fit, you can definitely avoid a bulky look even wear several layers. Same principle applies to leather pants, which do a better job to combat the cold weather than jeans.

  1. Hi Yuan,
    You look really nice on the leather leggings, they stretch your legs. :-) I am thinking to order one, but when I checked the link from Saks, the inseam is 33, is that the same as the one you wore? I am the same height as you, also I am thinking to order a size up, but they said you want size down for a better fit. What is your opinion? Trust yours.

    1. Hi Christy,

      Yes the inseam is around 33'', which is way too long for me. I will send them for an alteration before spring, when I plan to wear them with pumps. As to the size, it is true to size for sure! Unless you want wear them as leggings, you don't need to size down. I tried size 00, which is absolutely body hugging. I chose to size up since I want to wear them as pants, rather than leggings.

  3. hi there....love the theory pants on you and glad I ran into your blog. I'm about a size 25, sometimes a 24...would you recommend the 00 or the 0? I'm about 5'3 and 100 pounds. I'm thinking about getting a black pair. Thanks :)

  4. Leather stretches out over time. If you have lean legs, go with 00; otherwise size 0.

  6. A meteorological station needs many wind meters to receive data from many transferable wind meters through professional portable wind meters for predicting an effective weather opinion for people and that wind meter should be purchased from a genuine weather stationery shop.
