Close to Nature :: Frelinghuysen Arboretum

A few years ago, I read an article about how to raise up happy kids. It introduced 10 ways while I only remember the top one and stick to it since then -- Close to Nature 接近自然. New Jersey,  the Garden State, is a lovely place with gorgeous gardens, flowers, and trees. Winter is here and Spring will be on her way. Let's explore some of the little gardens that might give you surprises when visiting northern Jersey!

Frelinghuysen Arboretum

Cost: Free

Address: 353 East Hanover Avenue, Whippany, NJ 07981

The reason why I put it first in the list is, our family makes visits quite often every year. Whenever we run out of idea of where we are going, the answer is definitely Frelinghuysen Arboretum. It is actually an outdoor botanical garden open to visitors year around to enjoy leisurely strolls as well as to learn more about native plants. Surrounding a magnificent Colonial Revival mansion, there are a small rose garden, water fountain, the woodlands, and meadows. It is an ideal place for little kids to run around and families to relax under sunshine with packed simple lunch and snack. If you are lucky, you would meet people who hold wedding ceremonies and take wedding pictures.

Nature is everywhere. small place, big pleasure.
